Thanks MTV, i pimped my own ride

I suddenly have this idea about pimping a ride, i thought that it would be nice to pimp a Toyota Avanza. You must be thinking that i am cuckoo, if MTV can make a piece junk car into a beauty, why can't a Toyota Avanza be pimp worthy?

And here is the result, after using photoshop to pimp the virtual ride. My concept of the car is a coat of black paint, with some graphic design. I could not think of a design for the rims, so i just maintain the original ones and i added a little bit of body kit.

Blah! you probably think this is lame or maybe i have to much time at home to do so. So thank you MTV, i pimped my own virtual ride.

Belgian chocolates

First of all, please ignore my messy room. I got a pack of Belgian chocolates from my Kuching trip last month, the chocolate was purchased at Kuching airport together with the Hawaiian chocolate. I hesitate to open it, since I cannot find chocolates like this in Miri.

The craving of chocolate was strong, I could not resist anymore and I open it and took the first bite. Belgians sure knows the secret of making a good chocolate bar, this is one of the best chocolates I have ever tasted besides cadbury's dark chocolate. The best part of this Belgian chocolate is, no sugar was added. With all the natural sweetness and aromatic flavor , I hope it does not give me aphrodisia. It comes with a warning too, excessive consumption may have a laxative effect. I guess I cannot eat to much of it, but it is so good. I would not mind to buy ten bars of Belgian chocolate and suffer from laxative effect.

Embarrassing request

My previous job experience as a front desk reception was quite an interesting one, sometimes it can be joyful and it can be nasty as well. Everyday I meet all sorts of customers, from the type of customer who wanted to be treated like the Queen of England or the Mafia of Italy. I find the customers sometimes very amusing and seriously annoying, still they are the customers and they are the ones who gave me my salary.

It was one evening night in 2005, where the Filipino band is playing out loud at the lounge. With the disturbance of the music, I can hardly hear anything from telephone ringing and people talking to me. A total nuisance and a stupid idea to put the lounge at the lobby area, despite tons of complaints have been filed, no action has been taken. Then comes a guy approaching the counter, I step forward and greeted him. The fellow looks like he committed a crime or he is up to no good, but nevertheless he is still the customer. He asked me a question in a very soft tone voice, I could not hear what he just said with the music blasting from the lounge. I asked him politely to repeat the question, still the fellow did not wish to say it out loud and he asked in a very soft tone. I was feeling rather awkward, why is the fellow acting in such a way.

Does he have a mischievous plan? Or he is too embarrassed to ask for a request? Finally he gave himself him and asked "ada rubber kah?" (do you have rubber?)the moment I heard that, I nearly burst into a laughter. He said" condom! condom! ada jual condom kah?"(do you sell condoms?) Bad news for the horny but shy fellow, I told him" I'm sorry sir, we don't sell them here" in a time of desperation he asked where else can he obtain one. Back in 2005 we did not have any 24 hrs shops until this year, I came up with a dumb suggestion saying that he can get it at the petrol station and it's off he goes. Good luck chap! I hope you have a good shag.

Showing my cousin around

Last two weeks, my cousin Moses from Kuching was here in Miri. Since he haven't step foot on Miri for a couple of years, i decided to show him around Miri like a tourist. First we need to go for some food, he wanted to eat ba ku teh. I brought him to the ba ku teh shop, near to Labuan pub. The shop is actually quite new in Miri, i went there a couple of times but i always forget to bring my camera. The establishment looks very nice with a air condition room and an open air space for dining, with a variety of dishes to choose from the menu, we decided to stick with the normal ba ku teh.

After lunch at the ba ku teh's place, it was time to show cousin Moses around Miri city. Since in Kuching the beaches are half and hour drive, i decided to bring him the beaches here.

A bright sun shiny day, to take a brisk walk along the side on the sandy beach. It is lovely to hear the sound of the waves smacking the rocks, annoying little school kids screaming and running around. It was bloody hot i tell you! what is a better way to cool off the heat? I am sure glad that i have found my anwser for a cure on a hot day like this, there is nothing better than a bowl of icy cold chendol. I brought Moses to the chendol place near Jalan bintang or the petronas petrol station.

Such a great way to end the tour, with two bowls of chendol and a plate of rojak. When Cousin Moses comes back from Limbang, there's more goodies for him here.

Natural Element

It is simply amazing that natural elements can produce a wonderful sight, no doubt that it can end your life in a flash of a light. Today the weather was cloudy and raining, when there is rain, there is thunder and lightning. I was amazed by the lightning and inspired to photograph it, so i took the risk of getting struck by on to photograph it. Sadly i did not managed to get much shot of lightning, because there are many buildings in my way. I shall not be stop by those, next time i'll try to get a better location.

The Melbourne Shuffle Competition

The Melbourne shuffle competition was held on Wednesday and the finals was yesterday, this was the first time the competition has been held in Miri and in a "fengtau" club. Club up2u has got me wrong, DJ Azli played the best hard stuff ever. The hard pumping was so good that it gave me infinite euphoria, making me asking for more. Shufflers came all the way from Kuching and Sibu came to join the competition, and there was only one gal in the competition.

There was 19 contestants in this competition, including me. Only 10 will make it to the finals and 3 will be chosen as the winners, i did not make it to the top ten. I was too nervous, my mind went to a total blank out as i step on the dance floor. A few of the Miri boys made it to the top ten, Kian, Alex, ken, and Soon was part of them. First place goes to Ling from Sibu, 2nd place Eric from Kuching and 3rd place goes to Alex from Miri, they all danced very well and it was worth going through the shits. Sorry no photos of the winners, i didn't bring my camera out during the finals.

Do check out the vidoes below for the shufflers from the competition.

Eric's Barfday

Yesterday was Eric's Birthday, he decided to celebrate it at Imperial restaurant. I bet he must have enough of celebrating birthdays in clubs, so he decided to keep it simple and nice. He did not expect the alcohol will come, so it has. I ordered a specially mixed Ice tea for Eric, the poor birthday boy never see that coming his way and was forced to finish it by himself. If only Imperial restaurant serves "around the world" cocktails, i will buy 3 rounds of that and make sure he drinks it all.

Eric thought everything was clear already, wrong answer my friend. I still have my backup red wine, half a bottle of Gin and a bottle of Barcardi gold ready to be served. He got away this time, we only finished the red wine and Gin but did not managed to open the Barcardi gold. Next time my friend, there will be no escape.

To Eric, May your wildest dreams come true and your most intimate fantacy turns reality, Miracle! you make it happen.

I received this forwarded email from my ex classmate, the photos seems to be controversial I would say. I do not have solid proof about the photos below, but there is a link on each photos. The photos below shows how Pepsi drinks are made in middle east country, I am still having doubts about the photos.

Stop! Police check.

Yesterday I was with Eric going to Curtin to meet with Kynan, on the way there we saw some cars stop by the roadside. It is our dearest Royal Police officers, a few summons have been issued to the drivers for their following traffic offences. Fortunately we wore seat belts, we would have ended up with a summon if we didn't.

I wonder what offence did the driver committed, his day has be ruined.

Dining at Surabaya

Want to have a taste of Surabaya food without flying there? you can have it here in Miri now. I never thought that Miri would have an Indonesian restaurant, yes you can laugh your ass off as i am feeling ashamed for being a Mirian for not knowing where the good grubs are at. Olga being the good friend informed me about the restaurant's where about, i never try Indonesian cuisine before, so we decided to drop by there.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

A simple and typical coffee shop concept was used by the proprietor, at first sight i was not convinced that the restaurant's food was Indonesian. Because of the concept used, the restaurant looked more like a typical Malay restaurant. It was not until i saw the kicap manis(sweet soy sauce)on the table that proofed me wrong, it was imported from Indonesia.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

What made this restaurant unique was, a waiter who actually spoke Mandrin to us. I was so surprised by that, probably he is a Chinese? or the wife is an Indon? who knows and who cares as long we get good food there. We ordered Nasi Lalapan, Nasi Soto, and Nasi Rawon.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Nasi Lalapan, the dish looks very similiar to our local rojak. The dish consist of beancurd, cucumber, spinach, chicken and a mysterious thing, it tasted a bit like rojak too and extra spicy!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Next is the Nasi Rawon, i ordered this one. A bowl of beef soup accompanied with a lime, sambal and barley as condiments, the soup tasted a little bit sour and it's spicy. The beef was not chewy at all, the chef must some sort of technic to cook this dish. For Sour and spicy lovers, you can try the Nasi Rawon.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The Nasi Soto, ordered by Rining. To be honest with you, until today i am still clueless about Soto. I have no idea what exactly is Soto, all i know is it has this sort of curry and salty taste. However i took a sip from the Soto, it has exact taste that i remembered from the Soto flavoured instant noodles i ate.

The summary for Surabaya restaurant, the service was good and they served the food extremly fast. The food comes after 1 minute you order it, and a waiter who can converse in multi language. A heaven for spicy food lovers, the next thing you know is when you pass motion the next day you will scream " FIRE IN THE HOLE!!!" let's not hope that i would scream the next day.
